Palazzo Astuto di Fargione

Style and General Description

Palazzo Astuto di Fargione is an ancient noble palace in Noto, located on Via Cavour. Probably designed by the architect Vincenzo Sinatra, it was commissioned by Filippo Astuto di Fargione, a noble baron originally from Licodia Eubea. The building features a facade with six Tuscan pillars, adorned balconies, 18th-century stuccoes, and a “Salone delle feste” (Ballroom).

Features and Curiosities

The palace housed the Astuziano Museum founded by Antonino Astuto, featuring a collection of art and archaeology. After the sale of the collection, the main floor has been dedicated to the Val di Noto Club since 1980. In the palace courtyard, there is a World War II anti-aircraft bunker stretching over 500 meters, recently restored and opened to the public in 2021 as an attraction managed by the Tina Di Lorenzo Theater Foundation.
